PETRONAS
Akrab

Malaysia is a ‘melting pot’ of races, religions, and cultures that celebrates independence (Merdeka) once every year. While Malaysians have long learnt to embrace their diversity, there is, 58 years on, still a ‘political’ need to demonstrate unity on this very day.
A dynamic global oil and gas giant that epitomises the nation’s future hopes and dreams, PETRONAS has long championed the values of Merdeka through festive commercials. Indeed, the work created has proven so compelling, that it, like Merdeka, has now become an annual tradition too.
The Concept
An adventure through time where we follow three kids skipping a day of school to witness Malaysia's Declaration of Independence in 1957. Even though they end up missing it, what they do discover is what freedom really means for the country through the lens of their friendship.
Together.
Surely, there's no better place to be.
